I’ve had this for a few days now and I absolutely love it. I’ve been waiting very patiently for a product like this to come to market and my patience has paid off. This, in my opinion, is the most bang for your buck GCVideo product on the market right now that’s actually available and not just vapor ware. I like that it comes standard in black now and is sporting the latest firmware update. It is also great that it has JTAG headers if one ever wishes to update the firmware themselves. I also LOVE that the connector is metal and not plastic.

The packaging is top notch. It includes the Carby, a remote for adjusting settings (you can also use your own universal remote if you ever lose or break the one included,) a good quality HDMI cable, and a quick start guide.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the Carby. Kudos to Insurrection Industries for such a professionally produced product.

This thing is great! My gamecube games never looked so crisp and clear before. The build quality feels very professional, and yet it’s the cheapest gamecube hdmi adapter on the market. You can’t go wrong with this purchase.

this is the best $75 i’ve spent in awhile. the carby just makes all my favorite gamecube games look so good. highly recommend if you are looking to play your favorite old games on your modern tv/monitor. well worth the money

I have the first model of the CARBY and I can safely say my Gamecube will finally be used again. Great image quality!

Great quality and makes your gamecube look better than ever!

One thing to note about a minor problem I had, the picture wasn’t centered and was slightly pushed towards the left of the screen. For anyone reading this that has that problem, go into the options of the console itself (not the GCVideo options, the Gamecube’s options) and adjust the screen positioning. I was also told to use even numbers because odd numbers could cause another potential bug, so just one more thing to keep in mind. Other than that, great product, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a better picture out of their Cube. I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it at first since I already had the official component cables, but it was a nice improvement and I’m glad I spent the money. For anyone reading this that wants an HDMI adapter, do yourself a favor, don’t spend $100 or more on other adapters that do the same thing since this one is just as good and probably better in some ways.

Well priced, great build. Free HDMI cable with it, easy to use controller with minimal setup. Ace. This is what the GCVideo plug and play solutions should have all been from the start.

Just got my carby in the mail today, and I instantly had to check it out and I LOVE the packaging honestly. The carby performs spectacularly and as I expected. LOVE the scanlines feature. CRYSTAL CLEAR PICTURE. Love the support for gameboy player. The metal contact is a nice touch, compared to the other adapters with plastic. Overall great product.

  9. Aaron H. (verified owner)

Great product, it not only makes all games more vivid and clearer but also allows you to enable 480P on most games! The picture created is super clear and smooth. Awesome product, well done guys!

  10. Jared B. (verified owner)

The carby is AMAZING. It worked right out of the box and made the GC games look INCREDIBLE. I’m so stoked to revisit these old games on my modern television!

  11. Aaron (verified owner)

The Carby works exactly as you think it should and the games look great.

The only problem with it is it won’t work with non-powered Hdmi switches, I can only assume it because the Gamecube doesn’t send enough power for standard Hdmi switches to pick up on.

Other than that it’s pretty much perfect.

  12. ZJ (verified owner)

The Carby is, without a doubt, the best GC Video product on the market. Better than the EON, Zeldaxpro, HDMyCube, and whatever else, period. This adapter makes an eighteen year old console’s graphics rival that of the PS3 and X360. Who would’ve thought that 480p could ever look so good!

After trying out Metroid Prime, Rogue Leader, and Mario Sunshine, I can confirm that the visual quality warrants the price. On top of that, the fact that the package includes an IR remote and HDMI cable makes this option the most feature-rich and financially reasonable for enthusiasts. The Carby adapter itself feels quality, with a grip in the digital av port that is incredibly secure.

What else is there to say, but….BUY IT!

AWESOME! My Gamecube looks like a modern system with this device. Works great, even on my 75inch 4k TV. I can’t recommend this product enough.

  14. E. Scott (verified owner)

Absolutely fantastic product. I’ve tested it on Metroid Prime, F-Zero GX and Phantasy Star Online among others and I’m just blown away! I’ve noticed no input lag, the games look gorgeous, better than I remember from playing them on CRT. I’m really happy with the Carby and that price for this quality is unbeatable!

  15. richard haggart (verified owner)

Excellent shipping speed. Great product never has my cube looked so wonderful.

  16. David (verified owner)

This is a must have if you own a Gamecube! For years I’ve been wanting to play my GC on a modern TV without forking out big bucks. With the Carby, Ive been playing it none stop:) The games look fantastic, the build quality is amazing, and the fact that its the cheapest of the GCvideo products yet does not compromise anything makes this a dream come true. Consider me a loyal customer from here on out!

  17. Stephen Shelott (verified owner)

I received my order in 3 days. The carby is a well constructed adapter. The metal connector fits the GameCube like a glove. The hdmi port is nice and snug as well. The picture quality is better than anything I’ve seen out of a 480p output. If you want to play GameCube on a modern TV this is the best solution. The build quality alone is the reason. Not to mention the price.

  18. Joel Watson

If you love your Gamecube, Buy this period.

I can’t get over how good my games look. I’m seeing things i never had before and there is NO LAG. I even like how the unit looks (I bought the black one).

This adapter was worth the cost of the unit and the cost of acquiring a DOL-001 Gamecube .

you have to see it to believe it.

Five Stars. So happy with this product, the wife was able to play Donkey Konga with the kids for the first time ever, and there’s a bunch of other games they’re all excited to try out. Best $75 ever.

    Thank you!

Bought my Carby about 5 months ago and I absolutely love it. I use it in combination with Swiss and get the best possible picture out of my little purple lunchbox. My favorite thing to do at the moment is to play Windwaker and force it into widescreen 480p using Swiss. Out of the Carby the picture looks amazing. Then I pump that image through an mClassic and get the image in 1080p without the jaggies. The Carby has truly breathed new life into the way that I play games.

I have a few things I want to put out before you purchase the device.

First, they do a good job at shipping it out quickly and it should arrive in two or three days if there are no problems in transit.

Second, the first thing I noticed when trying it for the first time is the slight input lag. I had a digital signal go through the CARBY to my 4K Samsung TV and at the same time sent an analog signal to my CRT through composite cables. The delay is noticeable in a side by side comparison but it isn’t enough to cause issues unless you’re sensitive to it or plan on playing shooters or Melee.

Third, this device itself will not eliminate the jagged edges and fuzz. You will need the mClassic or the gaming edition mCables to do that, which will run you an extra $100 – $130 depending on the option you choose. Make sure you ensure the game you want to play can be run in progressive scan mode because although many games can be run in progressive scan mode, some can’t. The mClassic and the mCables will not do any good unless you hold B when you turn the console on to take the game into progressive scan mode.

Aside from that, this device is good for doing what it is advertised to do. Because it’s a proper digital signal, it will look good on your TV. A converter you find on Amazon will not output a proper signal. It’s the cheapest option for getting a proper HDMI output to modern displays and certainly the best option for getting the best from the mClassic or mCables, which should remove all that jaggedness and make things look smooth.

I got Carby for one game: F-Zero GX. I recently unpacked my old GC to show the kids and started playing F-Zero GX again as I had never finished it back in the day. Hooked up to my modern Samsung TV using composite cables and a composit-to-HDMI converter was rough. Games were playable but the quality was soft and blurry. Text in parts of F-Zero was unreadable. Playing such a beautiful game this way was a crime.

I bit the bullet and got Carby after doing some research. What a difference. With Carby in the digital port running at 480p in widescreen, the game looks the way it should. Crisp, clean and beautiful. I didn’t even realize that the Lightning track had rain. That’s how bad it was before.

So far, I’m running with the out-of-the-box settings. I went through the unit’s menu and I have no idea what any of it means, but there are plenty of options.

If your GC has a digital port and you’ve got a modern TV, Carby is the real deal.

this is by far the best hdmi solution for the gamecube. the connector is fantastic and fits perfect. the price is also amazing! if your looking to get the best video/audio out of your gamecube then stop what your doing now and buy this. you don’t need to look any further because you just found what your looking for.

This replaced a ZXP Pro 3.0 HDMI adapter that I had been using since 2017. I didn’t have any problems with that one until 2 weeks ago, when one of the pins on the mini-HDMI port bent slightly on the inside, causing the blue signal to intermittently cut out. This uses a much newer version of GC Video, comes with its own remote (so no need to program a universal remote), and is MUCH more solidly built. I was already familiar with how GC Video HDMI adapters work, so it was pretty much plug and play for me. One thing I should note for newer users: make sure the RGB range of the adapter matches the setting on your display (full or limited), otherwise the image will either be way too dark, or way too bright and washed out. My monitor supports both full and limited…I usually keep the HDMI set to limited though, because I also have a Wii U hooked up (which does not support full), and I don’t want to have to change the setting on the monitor every time I switch consoles. The default setting for this adapter is full, so I did have to change that setting in my case. That said, the video quality is *slightly* better than my old adapter (probably due to a combination of a newer version of GC Video and the device itself being better built/better shielded, along with a full size HDMI port). The difference is minimal. The audio quality of this adapter is definitely better than my old one. All in all, one of the best purchases I’ve made for my Gamecube. It’s amazing how forward thinking Nintendo was in 2002. This is the only console of its generation that can be used natively on a modern display that only has digital inputs.

Couldn’t be happier! Been playing for about a month and the resolution is amazing! What a breath of fresh air. Thank you!
